the designed LAN will interconnect two buildings the are 2km apart . Each building has an area of 300 m.square and is divided into 7 floor each 3m high , in addition to the main entrance.The main job of this LAN is to provide file and print server facility and to interconnect all the user spread over the network, There are 20 pentium per floor and one database per building. Printers are also connected to the network through a printer server . The following activities exist on the network during peak time.
-Each Pentium downloads 3Mbs file every minute from a database
-EAch pentium update database with 400 KB every 5 minutes
-Each pentium send 200 KB file for printing every 20 minutes
-Messages of 30 KB are transmetted and recieved every 10 seconds
-The degree of traffic locality( within the same building) is 60%
