A little background first of all.And of course hello DaniWeb community.
I had a corrupt hard drive so i decided to let my computer repair shop just install a new one without saving any old data.
So i had a pristine Win XP SP2 system only no internet connection as it would turn out.
so i call my provider to check ip's and so on.
i obviously disable the win firewall but it still won't connect.very few packets are being received.he tells me signal and modem are fine so some software is blocking my connection.
repair connection says i'm fine and the internet connection states: connected.
i'm using a realtek card over an ethernet connection with an external modem.
i try pinging and it also doesn't work.
led's and so all are in the green.
so i have a tech from my shop come over.
he checks the cable itself.we try uninstalling the card and go for obtain ip's automatically to no avail.
i finally put a new surecom card in and it immediately opens google.
i'm ecstatic and i let out a sigh of relief.
now-days later
i start to get random "network cable is disconnected" error messages.
plugging them in and out doesn't solve it.
only restarting and plugging the cable again solves it momentarily.it usually works better if Win XP firewall is enabled as far as i can tell since sometimes with it turned off the cable is not detected again.
now this morning it will only say connected up until the point when i try to connect over mozilla.
sorry for the post length and thanks in advance to someone that can help me at least narrow it down.
