I have a PC that is connected to an RCA cable modem via Comcast. It works fine, as this is where I'm typing from now. However, I brought my laptop home from work and connected my ethernet cord to it instead of the PC. I tried powering off the modem and back on with the ethernet cord plugged into the laptop. That didn't work. I have followed the online instructions from Comcast, and that still didn't work. When I plug in the ethernet cord, the LAN connection says connected and it says disconnected when I take it out. The only broadband connection that appears on my laptop is Bellsouth DSL, which is what is used at my office. When I click on IE, it says cannot find server. I'm trying to work from home this coming week, and without getting on the internet, I can't possibly set up the VPN that I have to tackle next. Wireless routing and all that sounds like a waste of money if I can't even get the ethernet cord to work. I need help!!!
