Two separate faults are visible in this thread: the wireless stopped working after a Windows install (Wi‑Fi LED not blinking) and the machine now fails to boot with “A disk read error occurred.” The boot problem must be resolved first because it prevents installing or updating drivers. was right to point at repair media — expand that by checking whether the hard drive is visible to the firmware (Acer machines commonly use F2 for BIOS/UEFI). If the drive is absent from BIOS, reseat or test the drive; if present, proceed with repair steps below.

From the Windows Recovery Environment (Command Prompt) try repairing filesystem and boot metadata. These commands attempt to fix common errors and should be run from recovery media:

chkdsk C: /f /r
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd

Back up important files first if the drive shows read/write errors. If chkdsk reports many bad sectors or the drive is not detected, the drive is likely failing and replacement is the practical next step. A live Linux USB can be used to copy data off the disk before replacement.

Once Windows can boot, focus on wireless. Building on ’s driver point and ’s request for model details: identify the wireless chipset (Intel/Realtek/Atheros/Broadcom) and install the matching vendor driver plus Acer utilities that restore Fn/hotkey and LED behavior (ATK/Launch Manager). If network access is required to fetch drivers, a temporary wired Ethernet connection or a USB Wi‑Fi dongle will help. Quick network checks and resets that are useful after drivers are installed:

ipconfig /all
ping 8.8.8.8
ping google.com
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /flushdns

If Bluetooth works but the Wi‑Fi radio never powers, the internal wireless module or its power control may be faulty; reseating the mini‑PCIe card or using an external USB Wi‑Fi adapter are practical workarounds. Provide BIOS HDD detection details and the wireless adapter/vendor ID in the thread for targeted driver recommendations.

First make sure you enable the hardware. Many laptops have a button to enable/disable the wifi radio. Second, go to device manager and make sure Windows recognizes the wireless adapter. If it doesn't , you need to download (from another PC) and install tr drivers.

also it migh help if you give us a bit more info ,like make and model oc computer ,what windows version yopu are using ect ect

install the drivers for your nic and make sure the botton is pressed on the case to enable wifi. But it sounds like you have a hard drive issue. Boot to the Install DVD and run a system repair. See if that fixes it. If not re-install windows [it will move your old install to a folder called "Windows.Old"] and see if you can boot. If you still can not boot, look at replacing your HD
