I have a dual boot on my Toshiba with Kali & Windows 8.1. I was playing around with the partitions and corrupted grub so it only booted to Windows. ( No more Linux!). Windows 8 has a Refresh feature that resets it back to the original configuration without affecting your files. This has worked for me in the past.

Avast is a excellent suggestion for an antivirus. I would also suggest Malwarebytes Antimalware as I have solved many problems with that as well.
