Sure you have to edit some config files. But once you do that its like debian, but faster. Plus Arch has newer kernels. The current kernel version is 2.6.21.3-2 compared to debian's 2.6.18-4. This might not be a plus for some people but the 2.6.21 kernel added support for my headphone jack on my laptop.(America's army is much more enjoyable now ;-)

though, castling can be dangerous, since you may cpture your king behind a row of pawns... so you have to know how to play it well...

When I have nothing better to do mid game I create a opening with a pawn.

When white, I usually bring out my king side bishop and knight so I can castle.

queens waste your time in the early game. Almost anywhere on the board a queen can be threatened. By bringing out your queen early you may lose your initiative. (in my opinion keeping initiative is one of the most important things)

You call xfce light? Its pretty fat. If you want speed try evilwm, ratpoison, wmi, or ion.

Humans will someday transcend greed. That is what civilization is all about, dehumanization? Society and civilization in general are created to dehumanize us. So as society advances we will get more and more dehumanized. Your Utopian society will only work when technology and society have been refined to an extreme degree.

I believe that communism supports equality and opportunity, while capitalism is a vicious system that supports immorality, crime, child labor, employee abuse, among others. Since the majority of the population is poor, I believe that we should help the poor the most.

Is it just me, or do you always use lame remarks like that in most threads? "Im not going to argue about open source" or "If I responded I would get an infraction." If your not willing to put forth your opinion, refute someone else's opinion, or contribute in some conceivable way, than how about not posting? Is that to much to ask? Because America used to be the best. It used to be driven, not arrogant. At one point, the pinnacle of science was in America, but not anymore. Don't get me wrong, America is a nice place to live, it still publishes the most scientific papers. But china, japan, and India will soon overtake america is both standard of living, and scientific papers.

I am not a democrat, I am a communist. just for fun lets look at these fourteen characteristics of fascism:

That will create more terrorists. The US cannot win the war on terror. A country cannot win against a group with limitless resources and limitless support, it is impossible. Just as microsoft cannot win against linux.

Hey, I'd rather that they arrest on the basis of discrimination and torture them in hopes that they do find the terrorist.. Personally, I'd rather that they were tortured than fear an airplane flying into my home, work, or somewhere for vacation. Sure, it's not democratic, but it's for our own safety.

You may be right, but regardless its against the constitution. But we should give them a trial right? In fact, we are actually making this nation more susceptible to terrorism by torturing people. By torturing people, we make the world hate us even more, which in turn creates more terrorists.

I generally only use "root" distributions. In my opinion ripped off distributions are made by lazy people not willing to come up with there own package management.

fedora 7 is stupid. I need to use irqpoll or else my soundcard isnt detected but i cant type any boot options in as it doesnt detect my USB keyboard at boottime grrrr

War is never a good option. Second of all countries might like us more if we did not invade so many countries for no reason. Good thing is, since Iraq is a mess, the american public will not stand for another war.

America is screwed up and bush knows it. No longer is he and his increasingly uneasy republican party screaming statements such as "cut and run" and "we must stay the course". You know why? Because america is tired of that propaganda. The was in Iraq is a failure, and thus the Bush administration.

There is a reason why terrorists hate us. Its because 1) we are to materialistic, and 2) we support srael which has occupied Palestine for quite some time. Its ironic that Israel was created for the jews to escape persecution, yet that is what they are doing to arabs. That sounds hypocritical to me.

I was talking about looks. People are like "windows vista is sweet!" or "macs rule because they look cool!" I mean linux can look like a mac, vista, or just have beryl.

vmware is better than microsoft virtual pc. Its alot faster I think.

I probably the only one crazy enough to use ratpoison, but has anyone else tried it? Did you like it? Here is why I like/dislike it:

pros:
Its simple
Its fast
It maximizes the real estate of your screen
it uses the same keybindings as screen
it lets me completely ignore the other 50 windows I have open

cons:
Some applications do not work in ratpoison (gimp)
to some people its weird

I really do not see why America is considered a "good", "democratic", and "free" country. We are supposed to stand for justice, yet we hold supposed "terrorists" in jail without trial, we kidnap suspicious looking people (basically arabs) and send them to be tortured, we hold rigged elections, the president blatantly lies constantly, and we are hypocritical enough to consider Iran and North Korea "rogue" states. What country invaded Iraq for no reason other than oil? No it wasn't North Korea or Iran, it was the US. Face it, America sucks.
