Very convincing. He is correct in his conclusion. But he fails to realize that humans are not entirely logical beings. Basically its a gamble with the same odds as a slot machine, seeing that global warning is an accepted theory by most scientists. If everyone used his theory or mode of operation when making decisions, the world would undoubtably be a better place. But many people do not make the right decision. Tens of millions of people gamble and many lose their jobs, houses, families, etc.Unfortunetly politicians are not more responsible than these people.
actually since I run linux w/ evilwm I only really need 1 gig. I just have another gig for the heck of it.
ubuntu can partition your harddrive during the install I believe.
On windows I like high contrast 1/2 with classic. It makes it look sweet.
but if you have 2 gigs I wont make a difference. my geforce 7400 go has 128 dedicated and 128 system.
linus torvalds said that gnome was for g'retards. (apparently he likes kde)
but that is the unix philosophy correct? No integrated solutions?
Ok than grub is apparently not installed boot with ubuntu again and reinstall. Did you manually define the partition table? If you do manually define the partition table this time, make sure to create three partitions: /boot (ext2), swap, and / (ext3). Make sure you install grub to /boot and set the flag as bootable.
I personally like hp. My hp laptop dv6000t ( A laptop I would highly recommend. The newer version (exactly the same except for some cosmetic changes) got the "best buy" award from pc world.) is awesome. I paid only $1600 and got <see computer specs in profile>.
And dells come with intel video cards instead of nvidia ones. Of course if this is just a cheap crappy laptop for school while your real rig is going to be a desktop than maybe dell is better.
ick... The only problem I have with runescape is its leveling system. When I want to be a mage why am forced to multiclass so I can fight decent people?
so you turn on your computer..it shows the bios loading and whatever than it is just black?
So it boots up to grub right?
are you talking about midnight commander?
debian, gentoo, arch, or slackware should work well. btw, gentoo and arch will be the fastest.
aww...come one! Chess by mail is not bad! You do not focus all your attention on it. For example you could have 20 games simultaneously and do reasonably well. (of course you would have to have 20 chess boards...)
you did not initialize a, b, c, d, and radius. Get the input than assign.
> If your windows is any nicer looking please post it. I call BS until then.
Mines really ugly!
ok you have points. Oh and with beryl Im talking about the "coolness" factor (I personally _hate_ beryl but it is the "coolest"). "Traditional" linux or unix is not for everyone but with ubuntu, linux just got a lot easier (of course I hate ubuntu). In fact, I think many users would consider ubuntu easier. For example lets say my grandma wants to use a computer: would I install Windows or Ubuntu? Ubuntu hands down, no spyware, and no viruses(or is it viri?).
your right those video links were totally ugly!
I right ones definitely cooler! ;-)
no seriously your avatar does look like a yu-gi-oh character! Hes putting up his glasses after being attacked and beaten to the floor by a hologram! (never understood that)
yeah those are better! Especially family guy.
I generally avoid cutting edge stuff. (my arch repos are modern enough...Of course with debian stable......)
Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon are lame. Magic on the other hand is sweet (mainly because the illustrations do not look like crap. It also has more professional rules)
That show is hilarious. You should watch more of it. The basic premise is that everyone plays this card game, but nobody knows what any of the cards do. So every battle consists of the players explaining how their cards work.
lol. The cards do not even have rule or flavor text!
I'm guessing that most of that is because you can more or less echo anything you want and have it become an action. Kind of like the old pencil and paper RPGs.
Yes its almost like playing D&D or something. Of course, I prefer a paper and pencil RPG but sometimes thats not possible.
what are these apps?
Is there a better compiler collection than gcc?
Is there a better shell than bash?
Is there a better editor than emacs ;-) ?
Is there a better wm than ratpoison or evilwm? (for my tastes that is)
Is there cooler special effects than beryl?
Is there a better web server than apache?
Is there a better OS dev VMmachine than bochs?
Is there a better browser than firefox?
Is there a better email client than mutt?
Is there a better assembler than gas?
I think not.
why? And no a graphical mmorpg can never be as in depth as a MUD. With a MUD I can do literally everything. I can get tatoos, grow wings, fly, fight in the air, jump on baloons, kill without stupid city killing rules, etc. Another thing I like is that role-playing is mandatory. Once when I was talking about my computer, my house leader (guilds basically) kidnapped me and threw me in jail and told me I would be released when I become "sane". I mean, how cool is that?
> Can you elaborate on that?
sure. In achaea I can:
eat peoples heads
push people out of trees
kidnap people
kill people in cities
steal from shops
steal from players
cause total chaos
Become the ruler of a city, continent, etc.
Its completely player run! No stupid NPCs! (there are NPCs but they are usaully for n00bs)
I prefer text based mmorpgs. They have _ a lot_ more depth than normal graphical rpgs. The current MUD I play is called achaea. Its really cool. You can do almost anything!
Im on level 4 and im sure of the answer...
I think its...voodoo powf? But it doesn't work ;-(
Does looking at page src constitute cheating?
lol I am just the opposite. I generally _pwn_ most people eary and mid game. But unfortunately I get too arrogant and make foolish mistake late game.
use acronis or just boot up with a live cd (gentoo is good) and partition your disks.
Yeah but you lose even more initiative! Its the "safe" thing to do, but frankly there are usually more pressing moves at the time (of course I might regret it later!)
With a really slow computer I recommend i686 cpu optimization. You can only get that with a few distros, and debian is not one of them.
