>You westerners have all things needed.you are rich and prosperous and will never under stand our problems.millions are being immigrants every in quest of a beeter life,its not their will .its a struggle for survival......when you people own all resources and go for war and kill innocent people just to get controll of oil and gas and every single valuable resource on earth wat rae they supposed to do.....?.....

So we should just "let" immigrants from every poor, corrupt, and violent nation in the world take over our country(s)? The people who are causing the violence and poverty in 3rd world countries are same as those illegally trespassing our borders.

>Num goes in here??

If num goes there, why did you pass b , an uninitialized variable with a random value?

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Do you know what a scope is?

Your getFib() function can't magically get variable values from your main function.

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Since b is unitialized, the value of b could be *anything.*

>But the main problem I have is that when num goes to getFib() it becomes a very strange number thats nothing close to what I input to main.

And where exactly does num go into getFib() ?

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Well... what seems to be wrong with these 2 lines:

long double b;
getFib(b);

I would recommend Arch Linux, as it is i686 compiled and relatively simple.

It should also be noted that religion was distorted from its original purpose (A lazy explaination) to something wholly more sinister.

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

>When I was at school learning from our schoolmaster, he always stressed that mankind's brain was not big enough to understand all the mysteries of our religion, which was in this case Roman Catholicism. I think there was a lot of truth in what he said and even as we think we are becoming smarter we are finding the more we learn, the more questions remain unanswered.

This statement just drips of intellectual cowardice. Not only does it discourage the inquisitive and intellectual, but it does injustice to our immense collective mental capacity. With enough intelligence (e.g collective brain power), most problems can be solved.

>btw. just what the devil is nethack?

Only the best game ever made!
http://www.nethack.org/

Don't be fooled by the ASCII graphics or the stark website, nethack is one of the most indepth games I have ever played.

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

>Since you don't seem to be understanding the point I'm trying to get at, let me try another way. Mac OS X is officially certified as Unix. Since it's Unix, it can run Unix software. Now do you get it? It doesn't have to be written on a Macintosh to be able to be considered "Mac software".

This really isn't a valid point. Even though Mac is UNIX, most Linux and BSD software does require a seperate Mac port.

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

>well it's true.

That doesn't strike me as a particularly convincing argument.

I'm dubious.

> At least they are christians.

What the hell is that supposed to mean? They're criminal trash that reproduce like rabbits.

>The first generation of guest or illegal workers work very hard, but their numerous offspring is not.

I suppose robbing stores and joining gangs is your definition of "working hard"?

joshSCH commented: hehe :) +12
Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

I'm also in favor of this solution. What America really needs is some firm legislation.

The classic problem that every society faces is that the poor (therefore the unintelligent) reproduce the most...

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

>and yeah i played it. Do you have "the orange box" btw?

I'm debating between Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and The Orange Box. Both work on Linux which is nice. (ET:QW has a native client and The Orange Box works perfectly on wine)

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

wow... 160 hours of play time... I don't think I can rival that with any first person shooter. (a couple rps I can though)

Offtopic but have you played team fortress 2 yet? It's awesome.

EDIT: no offense but your kd is pretty bad... my friends kd for battlefield 2142 is like 6:1

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Oh... I play it for hours on end...

Well... the goal of the game is to get the amulet on yendor and give it to your god. After you do this, you ascend to godhood... Have you gotten to sokuban?

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Yeah... new kernels seem to work wonders on laptops...

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

falcons eye I believe.

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Old nethack. I find the GUI version strange...

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

I like to read, program, and play chess. I also like to fence and play nethack.

Your best bet probably would be to learn how to interact with X11 by learning some xlib functions. Xdm would provide a good and simple base.

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Chrono Trigger is, without doubt, the best game ever made.

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Your position is completely indefensible and just as equally asinine. Not only is your position so ridiculous and inane, but your presented argument is extremely weak. Do you realize how much work farming requires? Do you realize the poverty and deprivation an agrarian society creates? (for most that is)

>How long do you think it could last?

Anarchy, chaos, and destruction? Quite a while. You act like this is a good thing.

>I want your honest opinion...would you embrace such a simple lifestyle??

A backbreaking brutal lifestyle with murder, rape, and theft rampant? Call me a hedonist, but I enjoy technology and the amenities it provides us with.

>Well, let me start off....personally, i wouldn't mind the use of a bicycle or an animal for travel...no gas pumps for me...

Would you enjoy the aforementioned?

>Do you think we could gradually, become that way...or has the world become too advanced....too complexed...to greddy and too competetive to do so???..

No, most people would not want to "become that way" as you so eloquently put it. I suspect the reason for this is that the majority of the world is more intelligent than you. (not that that's saying much, for you or the world)

I suggest you try using your brain before you post, it might have a positive impact on the quality and content of your writing.

EDIT: You are a perfect example for my sig.

>Can anyone else confirm this with the Opera web browser? Also, are you using the latest version? Thanks!

I'm also experiencing this problem. In fact, Daniweb seems thoroughly broken with Opera. Here's a list of some of the problems (Opera on Linux of course):

1) Quick reply button doesn't work
2) All pages on daniweb seem to cache so I constantly have to reload the page
3) The pages are sometimes justified to the left or right
4) The pages take quite a while to load

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

So your definition for "human enhancement" is something you're not born with?

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Define natural. Is a car natural? How about an airplane?

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Define human enhancements. Surely you aren't arguing against using tools?

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Were you using devpaks? If not, I suggest you try it as generally it's quite easy to install devpak libraries. http://devpaks.org/category.php?category=SDL

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

I take it you're from Australia?

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

ahh sorry.

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

First of all, you should use classes. In addition to this you should use vectors instead of strings. And third, you should make your program platform inpedendent. This means not using system() .

What's wrong with this?

void game()
{
//this is just an example
string userInput;

speak(You, "Hello there. I have to make a decision");

do
{
    cout << "1. Do this \n2. Do that";
    cin >> userInput;

    if (userInput == "1") cout << "\nThis was done";
    else if (userInput == "2") cout << "\nThat was done";
    else if (userInput == "#inv") inventory();
} while (userInput != "q")
}
Sturm 270 Veteran Poster
for ( int c = 7; c < i; c += 2)
    cout << c << "\n";
Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

I, personally always use a gentoo cd as my main recovery live cd. Small (download that is) and has most needed tools (webbrowser, gcc, g++, ssh, etc)

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

>It might actually be a better idea to unmount the drive before running an fsck check on it (makes repairing the data safer).

Sorry about that, you probably shouldn't mount it.

>Yes, my computer use ext2, Can you give me a suggestion, which distro of livecd.

In my opinion you shouldn't use ext2 unless you have a reliable backup power supply. (e.g laptop)

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

You might want to try lsusb

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster

Sturm 270 Veteran Poster
