you can set up a site-to-site vpn, using a router that supports such a connection (or a pc based, linux/win2k3 router), and through that connection use the offsite server as if it is connected locally (just over a very slow connection).

beeping means either ram or vga card problem. unless you have a brand name workstation, where everything is much more complex, and simple at the same time.

exactly right. that was the XP-HOME making the trouble. Pro version would have worked like a charm.
