by doing your own homework and not thinking that by sleeping in class, not reading your books, and asking others to do your assignments for you you can learn something.

Any book on Java, any tutorial that covers command line programs (which will be most of all beginners' tutorials), any teacher in his classroom, will cover that.

The System class has all you need.

Thats what is sad about the world, you just dont know for sure :(

someone who's near death from cancer isn't going to bother sitting down and writing a chain letter with their thoughts...
They're going to at most tell them to their family and more likely keep them to themselves.

That makes the claim a hoax.

It could be true at some level if it were someone putting the thoughts of someone who died from cancer into a chain letter though.
Would still be a bloody nuisance having your mailbox flooded with dozens of the things (which is likely to happen if you have some gullible people who've put your name into their address books) or your ISP gets swamped with them and mail delivery is disrupted (likely to happen if your ISP is AOHell or another n00by level ISP).

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

nah, everyone knows all you need to do for your final thesis these days is show how well you can plagiarise the work of others.

If there'd been censorship in the country he made that rant about censorship it'd have been censored so the very existence of that thing shows clearly that there is no censorship there :)

The mass media (or most of it) have a strict far-left political agenda and will refuse to publish things that don't fit that agenda.
That's however not censorship. It's freedom of expression, however abhorrent it is for "reputable" news media to do.
It's also political propaganda.

If you want censorship, look at communist China, Cuba, North Korea, Zimbadwe, and pretty much every other communist country in the world.
Sadly some supposedly free countries are going that way as well, like Finland which is blocking websites their political leadership doesn't agree with under the excuse that they contain child porn, websites which typically include sites that are critical of that censorship program and try to expose it.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

hmm, someone hasn't read the Guide again...

And sneekula seems to have, but that'd mean he'd also realise the sad truth about ourselves ;)

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

and almost certainly another hoax. Very similar things make the rounds in the chain letter circuit all the time.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

If something goes wrong, sue them for big bucks!

1) that won't work here. Convictions in medical malpractice suits are extremely rare (the medical courts are made up of doctors...), and even if you get a conviction the payout is minimal (government set amounts, socialised healthcare, there's a value to everything including a human life and it's low).
2) any amount of money won't bring your eyes back.

Side effect of point 1 is that there is also a limit to the procedures that doctors are allowed to perform. If some bureaucrat decides that the cost of the procedure is higher than the value of the patient (boldly put) you're not going to get treated.
Socialised healthcare at its finest.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

by not sitting on your lazy arse waiting for people to do your homework for you but actively studying and experimenting for years and years.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

that's ALWAYS a classpath issue. Read the documentation.

nope, that's one of the worst books you could get.
Anything by Herb is suspicious by default, especially anything by Herb that's not dealing with C.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

so all you need to do is find out what the file format looks like and create some library to write (and probably read while you're at it) that format.

Good luck.

A good replacement is soybean products. I don't know what you can get where you live but we have several milk-replacements such as Silk. You will want to test several brands because some are just plain yukky.

it all depends on how bad the alergy is. My sister has a rather severe case, she has to be extremely careful when buying prepackaged foods as most contain milk components as filler or for other purposes (even stuff you wouldn't expect it from, like marmelade).
She gets sick when she's had something to eat that was cooked in a pan that had previously contained butter and not been cleaned well enough...

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

there can be only one possible answer to such a "request", and that's "REQUEST DENIED".

And that's why there are so many pisspoor programmers. They "learn" a few tricks and think they know what it's all about.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

no, it's not correct. Read a manual for your operating system.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

Same here, and with the wholesale destruction that 1.7 seems to be going to bring to the language in terms of readability and ease of use I'm seriously considering making the switch to C# and abandoning what I'm starting to see as a sinking ship.

1.6 was bad, 1.7 looks to be an unmittigated disaster.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

The feeling is mutual Narue, we hate C++ :)

C# OTOH looks nice.

There are generally few women in IT and most of those are doing work as analysts, trainers, and tech support people.

It's got nothing to do with Java, just the fact that women seem drawn more towards the people side of the business rather than communing with computers.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

in fact, the more desperate you are the less likely we are to help you as the more we want you to fail and prevent you from polluting the job market with your non-existent skills, causing all real programmers to look bad and get more work trying to clean up after you.

I wasn't serious AD. I've seen what smoking does to people, how many of them would rather die than stop smoking.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

yup. It all depends on how you calculate the environmental impact of something.
Under the current fad the only things looked at are CO2 and dust (for diesel engines) emissions.
10 years ago NOx was all the rage and had to be reduced to nothing (which caused an increase in fuel consumption as engines had to run richer mixtures).

But for now I'm going to make excellent use of the idiocy of the whole CO2 hype and get myself a Civic Hybrid as a company car with a massive tax incentive, saving me something like €150 a month in taxes :)

NoCodeTagError, redo from start.

And I do hope you got that IntelliJ license legally.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

no, the thing is that you violated the rules.
Had you not done so in the first place by demanding people do your homework for you and later by being rude and abusive to people you would likely have received help.

Whether you'd have been able to correctly interpret that help and make use of it to your benefit will now never be known, as you're unlikely to ever receive much help in the future given the bad reputation you've very rapidly acrued for yourself.

After a couple weeks or so without tobacco you will begin to see a huge difference in your life and you will be able to do things you couldn't do in many years, like working out at the gym or health club with relative ease.

hmm, hmm, maybe I should start smoking just so I can work out with relative ease after I quit again :)

nah, don't think so ;)

Nasty little critter, the homework kiddo. Right down there with rats and venomous spiders when it comes to the desirability of them in your home.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague

so the guy just invented a radio receiver, so what?

It's an obvious hoax, well known to be utterly useless. You may get a few millivolts and a few microamperes maybe that way.
To get anything usefull you need massive coils and suspend them within a few meters of a transmission line.
Not only is that illegal, it's also incredibly dangerous and expensive.

jwenting 1,905 duckman Team Colleague
