Unfortunately only the 10600 is technically compatible, the difference is simply the quality of the memory. 10666 is higher quality than 10600. 10666 is a true 677 mhz where 10600 is not. From your other post, it did look like the sticks were bad and you just got unlucky. What …

If you are hearing some beeps followed by a shut down, odds are it is just overheating because the cpu is not being cooled. Check the beep codes first.

I built my own case out of aluminum, kinda a standard case but it let me pick and choose where everything went and I had my friend do a custom paint job. For one of these projects you are going to need a ton of tools. I have not worked …

May i suggest using one stick at a time and running something ram intensive or running memtest? This will give you a more definitive answer.

Are you saying you dropped the computer? If so you have probably broken the hard drive and it will need to be replaced.

To run 3 screens you need either a high end graphics card that has that option or you need to have 2 cards (not sli or crossfire). You wont be able to do this with cat5 or any other cat cable. Depending on what your friend wants to do with …

without ram nothing will happen beyond the power light coming on. With ram you would at least get to the bios and could see if the computer posts.

Your graphics card is artifacting. This can be caused by a couple things. 1) loose connections (check the connection to the graphics card and the monitor) 2) bad cable 4) low power to the card 3) bad card Post the manufacturer of the parts you list so we can better …

Make sure your actually running the card off the correct rails, also check the efficiency rating of the psu and multiply it by the amperage rating (that gives you the real output)

For what you want to do I would suggest a 1u opteron server such as this http://www.amax.com/CS_ProductDetail.asp?cs_id=H1202 or this for xenon http://www.amax.com/CS_ProductDetail.asp?cs_id=X1401 OR you could go with a workstation computer or a minicluster for cluster computing. I am not sure what software you are running for the 3d rendering but …

I have seen this before, its unfortunately dead, what happened is that the motor died. The bios can still see it because it only needs to see the chip on the hd to get an id, the hd doesnt need to spool up. Windows on the other hand needs to …

While I am not sure that this is the case I have seen this happen before. Ubuntu has great proprietary drivers. That being said, not all of them work really well. What may have happened is that the drivers were not all there for the motherboard and some controllers may …

Check first that its partitioned correctly. If you have access to another computer, drop it in there and see if it shows up. If not, its dead. Does your computer detect it in the bios? if its not showing up in windows but its showing up in the bios its …

you can sli the 9800 and 8800 if you want, its called hybrid sli. You can do this with any nvidia cards that are 8800's or newer. The only drawback to this is that if one card has less memory than the other both cards will use the lesser amount …

Unfortunately Jeff, the card you posted will NOT work in your pc. Your powersupply wouldnt be able to handle the load. In order to better diagnose the video problem, could you tell us what you are using to play the videos and what your using to render, ie. graphics acceleration, …
