Well I've hooked my PS4 up via Ethernet and it has gained an average of 4mbps more download. So yeah much better even to the point where on the weekend (when there are more consoles running) the internet cut out on the one using WiFi while mine remained connected. So yep Ethernet is the way to go. Just going off what I'm experiencing.

Well what my main concern is, will it give me the best connection over other connected devices. Like if there is a lot of other devices connected will I get the same speeds as if my eg. PS4 was the only connected device.

At the moment there is sometimes connection dropouts and I think it could be because there are a lot more devices connected at times, like maybe Three tablets, One or Two laptops, One smart-TV, One Blu-ray player and sometimes two or three gaming consoles (PS3 / PS4).

So what I was planning to do is buy a long enought ethernet cable (probably close to 10 meters) go from the router into my lounge and plug it into a network switch behind my cabinet then from the switch I'll have an ethernet cable going into my TV, Foxtel, PS3 and PS4 and maybe have a spare one for anyone who brings their console around.

Ok so even using an ethernet connection, the lag will still occur?

Thanks everyone, I think it was the virus scanner I was using because I've got AVG installed now and the same website with the https strike out is now green and saying "The identity of this website has been verified by AVG Technologies but does not have public audit records."

Could it have something to do with my virus scanner? because I'm currently using Bitdefender and mine says "The identity of this website has been verified by Bitdefender Personal CA.Net-Defender but does not have public audit records."

I'll get onto that later but what my main concern is will it be easier for gaming, like with lag because sometimes at once there could be 3 or 4 consoles connecting to the internet along with about 3 or 4 mobile devices along with a smart TV and a bluray player all connected to WiFi at the same time. So I'd like to know if and Ethernet connection to my TV, PS3 and PS4 could allow them the best connection.

So when all these other devices are connected at once, my devices that are connected to the internet via Ethernet will have better internet, meaning less dropouts and faster speeds over the devices using the WiFi connection.

I hope this makes sense.

So what exactly are you both saying it's worth "ethernetting" my network?
FYI. The router I'm using is the Netgear DGN2200 and my ISP is Optus

I have recently been thinking about switching from a Wi-Fi connection to a direct connection over ethernet, however when I tried an ethernet connection from my router to my PS4, I calculated the average download speed after about 5 Wi-Fi connection tests and 5 ethernet connection tests and it averaged around the same. So there was no major difference, so what benefits would I have with a ethernet connection? I use my PS4 to listen to Spotify and sometimes it will drop or lag a bit, as well as when I have more than one person on my network it will lag a little more.

So I was planning on getting a long enough cable to reach my lounge and plug it into a network switch then into my PS3, PS4 and Foxtel. However I don't want to go through all this trouble if there is no major difference.

So what are the benefits if the download speed if averaging around the same, the only thing that changed a decent bit was the upload speed.

I'm planning on buying a new computer monitor soon but I'm not sure which one I should buy. These are the two I'm trying to decide between LG 27MP75HM or LG 29UM65 thing is the 27MP75HM will be good because I can fit more code on the screen but the 29UM65 will also be good because I like to multitask (however I already have dual monitors (monitor and laptop screen)).

So what would be better? more code of more multitasking (again as I said I already have my laptop screen).

I'm not fussed about the price just what would be better for me as I write a ton of code and work off multiple windows.

I'm still not sure which one I should go with, I'd probably consider renewing the .CO extension for a few months just for the cross-over stage (only because it is still under-construction so no one really knows about it yet) as well as buy the .SUPPORT extension and move everything over.

Thanks but I pretty much need immediate email action so once an email comes in I need it placed in the database, that is why I like the piping system but sadly email headers couldn't be anymore cluttered with crap so it's hard to filter out information so I guess this is my only option.

Whenever someone sends an email to my websites email address it is piped to a PHP script, I then want the information (that was piped) filtered to get who it was sent from who it's sent to, subject and body which I will then insert into the database.

I want it to pipe emails to a PHP script (which I've got working but now need to read the data). So when someone sends an email to this email address it will be forwarded to the PHP script and will filter out all the data I want an insert it into the database.

Damn it, is there anyway then to pipe emails to a database?

I was wondering if there is a way to filter through an email to get all the details. Such as from, to, subject, body and a few other details but you get the idea.

At the moment I just have a bunch of text but I want to get all the little bits of information.

My computer is already running Windows 8 but I upgraded to Windows 8.1 but I was saying if I restore my computer I would probably just do a fresh install instead.

I don't want to have to move all my stuff off my computer restore it them have to move it back but I know what you're saying, I tend to do this kind of thing a lot but I will say I started having a few minior problems once I upgraded to Windows 8.1, such as when I'm in the start menu and I start typing it takes around 8 seconds for an actual result to appear.

So if I was to do this I would buy Windows 8.1 and do a fresh install.

I have disabled Auto HD For YouTube and its king of going a little quicker, only a little buyi though. I'm still trying a few things to see what can make it better, sadly I've even started looking for a new laptop. I just don't want to upgrade just yet I might in a few more years.

Out of curiosity though what would you say is a good brand to go with?

Adblocker Plus is one extension I'll never get rid of, those pesky ads especially the YouTube video ads are annoying.

@sekovar The extensions I have are Adblocker Plus, Auto HD For Youtube, Chrome Remote Desktop, Google Docs, Logitech Smooth Scrolling, Postman - REST Client and Trend Micro Toolbar.

I'll trial it now for a few days and see how it is.

I've just ran a CCleaner scan and it cleaned up a few things. So I restarted the computer and figured out it actually becomes slow when I use Google Chrome so I've cleared the browser of clutter (eg. cookies, history) as well as disabled all my plugins so it's not runnings too bad but still I have disabled a couple of things so in a minutes I'm going to re-enable my plugins and see what happends. It might even just be one plugin, not sure but I'm hoping it is a least inportant one.

I have just ran a Malware Bytes scan and I got 0 infected results. I'm not sure what is left to do without refreshing/restoring my computer.

I have looked through my processes and it all looks normal nothing new.

What else is there left for me to do, I will say before I switched to Windows 8.1 it was all good no problems however it still wasn't like this. It started going slow just over a week ago.

I have never created a restore point so my computer back to the start. Plus I'd rather not restore it. I'm not home to use my hard drive to back it up and I don't want to buy one.

I'm not on my computer yet but will be later so I'll have a look through my processes I just hope I can fix it because I'd happy buy a new one, the only thing that would hold me back is the fact that it isn't even that old.

I have recently been experiencing extream speed decrees in my internet and general laptop use. I try to load eg. this website to post this and it took just under a minute to fully load. Sometimes for somereason my laptop mouse will freeze up, it will let me use the mouse buttons but will refuse to move, once this happends I need to wait close to 3 minutes (while leaving it alone), also when I attempt to scroll, instead of scrolling, the mouse just moves in the direction I'm wanting to scroll.

I have ran a full virus scan using Trend Micro Titanium Maximum and I've scanned it using McAfee Internet Security and both have come back saying no infections have been found. I don't know what to do, I've only had this laptop for just over a year (maybe 13 or 14 months). I have Googled it and found a few things saying maybe it could be the drivers but they didn't need updating neither did the computer.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion g6 it's running Windows 8.1 (it came with Windows 8 but I upgraded via the Windows Store). I'm not sure if this will make a difference but I am an excessive user, I basically use it every day with what I do. So I'm not sure if I'm over using it but I couldn't imagin.

Could anyone give me advise on fixing this problem besides buying a new laptop (already).
