Hi folks, My onboard VGA display port is not working. When I start machine display toggles 'ON'/'OFF' in series and after 10 seconds monitor goes blank. My doubt is that the VGA port has some issues. I've checked monitor by connecting it to laptop. Its working fine. So my question is.. if I add PCI VGA card or PCI DVI card on motherboard, will my display work? Or I must have to go for graphics card? My computer usage is normal(movie/songs/documents/internet). No Gaming. My desktop configuration is Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 Motherboard: Intel D945GCCR Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 2033w …

Alright, my Thinkpad T60 decided to stop booting. I've tried all the obvious already. Anyway, when I start it up, it shuts down in 3 seconds. All the lights act normal, but no display. To get it to boot again, I need to remove the A/C and the battery. When I plug in the external VGA, it boots like normal. If I hit FN+F7 (LCD/External toggle), it powers off. What could the cause be? I was thinking a shorted out ribbon, are blown fuse or a faulty LCD, but it may be something else. Thanks in advance.

The Nintendo Wii has introduced many families to the joy of gaming and has also introduced others to the fragility of modern television screens. Today’s flat panel TV’s are thin, sexy and unfortunately rather fragile, a fact we have been forced to live with, until now. Corning Inc. claims to have the answer we have all been hoping for, Gorilla Glass. Gorilla Glass is roughly two to three times stronger than the standard chemically treated versions of common soda lime glass, an attribute bolstered by the fact that the increased strength is present even when the Gorilla Glass is half …

Hello, I have a Acer Aspire 5920 that currently has a 15.4" display, which has very low contrast and and low resolution(1280x800). I just recently had my old 17" Toshiba crap out on me, and it has a absolutely gorgeous screen, high contrast and the resolution is (1440x900). Now what in trying to do is to replace my Acer's 15.4" LCD with the 17" from my old Toshiba. Now before I get bashed saying it cant be done, I have already experimented with it, with very pleasing results. The Acer's inverter powered the back lights just fine, and when I …

Hi all, I use the code below, and it's my idea it will give me on my LCDisplay the letters "Camil" (and yes, that is my name) All the first subroutines i just copied form http://home.iae.nl/users/pouweha/lcd/lcd2.shtml - it has to work. From label start i did make anything myself. I'm sure i did connect the LCD and the PIC right, and i am sure the contrast is OK. I just think i don't understand how to use the subroutines. What happens is the following: the backlight does work, but there isn't any character. What's the problem - how do I …

VIZIO has long been the bargain shopper’s HDTV brand of choice. Peppered across shelves in Wal-Mart, Costco, and Target electronics department, the displays—albeit not the most advanced in terms of picture quality—have always been reliably, affordable, and completely viable options for people wanting to achieve the new American dream of owning a HDTV and Dolby Surround setup to come home to after another laborious 9-to-5. For a company that started with three employees and $600,000, VIZIO has gone on to become one of the leading LCD television manufacturers, just a fraction of a percent behind Samsung in 2010 sales. Their …

A former sales director with the Taiwan-based Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corporation has entered a plea-bargain in a San Francisco Federal Court related to charges of participating in a global conspiracy to fix the price of thin-film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panels, according to the Justice Department. Under his plea agreement, which has yet to be approved by a court, Chen-Lung Kuo has agreed to serve nine months in jail, to pay a $35,000 criminal fine and to assist the department in its ongoing TFT-LCD investigation. Kuo is arguably getting off easy, considering that violating the Sherman Act (a primary antitrust …

My brother cracked his display in his laptop and ordered a new one for it, it was the same model except something about the finish was satin, how ever, it was the only difference. He pulled the front monitor cover off and changed the LCD was very simple task on this monitor, and only had one plug to deal with. Before he changed it, the cpu would boot and worked fine just had spider web crack in the view of the display. After changing the LCD screen, He assembled back and installed battery, and he noticed the LCD screen lit …

Hello everyone! I was hoping someone could offer a bit of insight into the problem I'm having.. My laptop monitor is doing the following (Youtube video): http://go.notebookreview.com/?id=525X832&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dix1BrzvPY9o When I hook up an external monitor it works fine. However, the symptoms don't seem to match anything I've read on LCD, backlight, or inverter problems. I've taken it apart and played with the cables and connections to no result.. Any ideas? Cheers, Lee

I brought a new Philips 20" LCD Monitor. When I plugged in the monitor, the screen resolution was 1024X768. After I installed the nvidia card 7100GS driver, the resolution became 640X480. I am not able to increase it to any higher resolution. Every thing in the computer appears really big! Is there any way I can make this proper?

I have read a few related threads and nothing hits my problem right on the head. My wife spilled a few drops of soda on her Dell laptop LED screen. Soon after, the screen went black, but you can faintly see images. When I plug into external monitor, it works fine, so it's not video. I have tried the "unplug battery and hold power button for 60 seconds" and that didn't work. I took out panel and there does not seem to be any liquid damage, but I'm not an expert. I can swap the panel or inverter, just don't …
