Back when I was living in New York, I very frequently attended tech publishing and SEO conferences, and even hosted a bunch of conference after parties. The conferences, in the SEO industry, at least, slowed down post-2018ish, and seem to have gone totally virtual post-COVID.
In fact, the primary motivation behind DaniWeb Connect was that I was tired of going to business networking events where I would make small talk, exchange business cards, make small talk, exchange business cards, rinse and repeat, and at the end of it, end up with maybe one person worth my time after a 3 hour event. I decided to create a Tinder for business networking, as it were. That was back in 2015ish.
Do you think that in-person conferences are still relevant, or can we accomplish just as much through Zoom conferences and online networking these days? IMHO, I think that COVID really accelerated the possibilities of connecting online.
