How do sites that have No-Follow practice/policy benefit from it? What is the commercial point of this rule? Especially if it's social media sites like Twitter (if I am correct about it)?

i have noticed when you make a link it is counted as always no follow.. but if in written in text then its do follow!!

well i guess it is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring.
so peole come and get what they want and they just keeping comin
