Hello all,
I am planning to launch a local news website which will be updated atleast 5 times a day.
I am not sure @ estimating revenue at the end of one year.
Is it possible to tell how the Google Adsense revenue is related to no. of visits like 1$ per 1000 visits in a day?
I am taking Google Adsense as the bottomline and not considering affiliate marketing and directly sold banner ads.
Please share your experiences as they will help me immensely.

Thanking you in advance,

For : a practical, repeatable way to turn "visits" into an AdSense revenue target without guessing a single "$1 per 1,000 visits" figure.

AdSense revenue is driven by pageviews and effective revenue per thousand pageviews (RPM). Use the simple formula:
Revenue = Pageviews * RPM / 1000
First convert visits to pageviews: Pageviews/day = Visitors/day * PagesPerVisit. RPM depends on CPC, CTR, ad fill and geography — not every visit is worth the same.

Step-by-step forecast (use a spreadsheet and update monthly):

  1. Pick a visitors/day target for month 12 (conservative/realistic/stretch).
  2. Estimate pages per visit (news sites often range from ~1.2 to 2.0; test your site to refine).
  3. Compute monthly pageviews = Visitors/day * PagesPerVisit * 30.
  4. Apply three RPM scenarios (example: low $0.5, mid $1.5, high $3.0) and compute revenue with the formula.

Example (illustrative):
1,000 visitors/day * 1.7 pages = 1,700 pv/day => 51,000 pv/month
At RPM $1.00 => $51/month; at $3.00 => $153/month.

Quick optimization checklist (to raise RPM and conversion of traffic into dollars): improve SEO for higher-value keywords, increase pages-per-visit with internal linking, use responsive ad units and strategic placements (without encouraging accidental clicks), speed up pages, segment local advertisers/sponsored posts, and build an email list for repeat visits. Track Pageviews, RPM, CTR, CPC, pages/session and bounce rate.

Notes on replies here: is right — traffic matters, but the conversion chain (visitors -> pageviews -> RPM) is what produces dollars. ’s CPA/affiliate idea can boost income but requires different UX and strict policy compliance; direct local ad sales often outperform AdSense for local news once audience size is meaningful.
