This thread began with a straightforward publisher question that still matters: which ad network to use. AdBrite is no longer an option (it shut down in 2013), so the useful takeaway is how to evaluate any ad network today versus Google AdSense.

What to compare (short checklist)

  • Revenue model: CPC, CPM, or hybrid; how each network prices impressions.
  • Fill rate and geo targeting: does the network serve ads to your main audience?
  • Ad formats and control: text, display, native, video; ability to block categories/advertisers.
  • Reporting and tools: realtime stats, payment cadence, and ease of use.
  • Terms and compliance: payment threshold, tax forms, and GDPR/CCPA support.

How to test fairly

  • Run a controlled split test: swap networks in the same slot on matched pages or use page-level experiments.
  • Measure RPM (revenue per 1,000 pageviews), CTR, eCPM and user-experience metrics (load time, bounce).
  • Run each condition long enough to smooth out daily/seasonal variance (several weeks).
  • Only change one variable at a time (placement, then network) so results are attributable.

Alternatives and business strategy

  • Today there are many options besides AdSense: contextual networks, native/content-recommendation, header-bidding/SSPs, and premium networks (some require significant traffic).
  • Diversify revenue: mix display with affiliates, sponsored content, subscriptions or direct deals.

Notes tied to earlier posts

  • ’s implicit point about publisher tooling matters: UI and reporting affect day-to-day operations.
  • ’s ownership speculation is a reminder to verify company info from official sources rather than rely on rumor.

While I don't have any experience with them, their site design leaves much to be desired. I remember they started out being known as Sprinks or something ... You have to wonder why a one year old company changed their name just about the same time they started gaining momentum in the SEO industry. On the other hand, you have to wonder why Alexa uses them on their own site. Maybe they secretely own them?

I think that Amazon is behind adbrite ...
