Hi all,

Which webcam is the best one on the market these days?

I'm in the market to buy.

Thanks

This thread asked a simple question but the right answer depends on use case and present-day support. As noted by , many review scores can seem mixed, and mentioned motorized models — a valid option but not the only one. Because the original posts date back several years, many specific models from that time may be obsolete; current purchases should prioritize up-to-date driver support and recent sample footage rather than star ratings alone.

Important selection points: resolution (1080p is a common baseline; 4K is available for recording), frame rate (30 fps vs 60 fps for smoother motion), lens quality (glass > plastic), sensor size (bigger sensors handle low light better), field of view, autofocus, built-in microphone quality (often inferior to an external mic), tripod mount and privacy shutter, and UVC (USB Video Class) support for broad OS compatibility. High-resolution cams often require a USB 3.0 port and more bandwidth; check port type before buying.

Motorized pan/tilt vs software face-tracking: mechanical tracking delivers true physical framing but adds moving parts and possible noise; software tracking crops the image and can reduce effective resolution. Practical troubleshooting tips tied to the choppy-video reports here: test alternate USB ports (preferably USB 3.0), close other camera-using apps, lower capture resolution or frame rate, install the latest manufacturer drivers, and verify permissions on the OS. Reviews that include downloadable or embedded sample clips are the most useful when comparing real-world image and low-light performance.

I currently have this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007NIJBC/sr=8-1/qid=1144612424/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-1546834-8110418?%5Fencoding=UTF8 . It is deffinatly not the best, but it works. If you want a better one you can get ones that have a motor on them so they follow your face around as you move about in your chair when your talking to someone so you never go off of the screen. That would be this one: .

Hope this helps :)

Thanks, but the reviews weren't the best 50-60% of the time.
