hello follows

Could some of you guys please tell me if there is a diference between PATA on the new motherboards and IDE interface Known as the type of device ATAPI. Also if the PATA is compatible with Type of device (ATAPI) CD Rom and DVD players and burnners.
I look into some close up pic of a motherboard that I am interested and I see IDE connectors, but the discriptions say that it has PATA upto 4 devices. (ATAPI) the type of device.
