Hi,
I purchased a dell 610 laptop from a prosecuting attorneys' auction with the hard drive missing. I figured "no problem" , bought a new hard drive and installed it in the 610. After many hair pulling sessions it still will not recognize the new hard drive... Please, anyone who has any pertinent information, please help me out!!!!! Thanks.....

Jump to Postwhat size hdd ,what did you try, to have computer recognize the drive ,did you try windows cd to see it would format it and load windows on it .is drive new,as in never used ??

Hmm...not too sure on this one. Make sure your drivers are installed properly. Go here to download the drivers http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid=&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PM_D610
Don't worry, that is Dell's website and drivers are free : )
