Had a working PC with Windows XP, out of no where, the hard drive is not detected at startup (BIOS). The model of the hard drive is WD 160 IDE. This drive was on a Master setting of a Master-Slave setup. Tried playing with the jumper setting to see if that will do something but nothing happen. I took the drive out and put it in my other working PC and it was still not detected.

Does anyone has any idea what could have happened?

Thanks!

is it a new hd, or the problem occurs with the old one? there could be several reasons.
1. bad IDE cable
2. HD is dead
3. ide controller is dead
