Hey,

I have a Maxtor III One touch External HDD. Its works.....100%, but it makes like a vibrating noise.....I went to Maxtor.com and went through the diagnostics tests and told me that there was nothing wrong with the HDD. Personally, I agree with them, but I don't think a External HDD should be making noises like that. Has any one had a problem similar to mine...or knows how to fix this problem....I'm not disasembling the drive..and Im not returning it......Anyways any help greatly appreciated.

If it started vibrating recently, then you should back it up and RMA it. That is problem of mechanical nature, and there is nothing you can do, except replace it.

On the other hand, if this is a brand-new drive, then that could be normal behavior.
