I have a PC that randomly will not boot into Windows XP. The screen displays the message:
reboot and select proper boot device.
Installed boot devices are: SATA hard drive, and IDE dvd drive. The SATA is the chosen first boot device. Any feedback appreciated.

I can only imagine that there is a glitch with the SATA set-up. I suggest you check it out both physically and from a BIOS perspective.

check if there's any loss connection on your SATA hard drive and i agree with suspishio check the BIOS settings if your drives are properly detected, much better load the BIOS to its default.
