Help, I have erased my mail app. How do I reinstall it without erasing any more software.

Woodchip's wife here...occurred when setting up user accts for kids. Mail still shows up under applications, but icon is now pencil, ruler, paper, etc. If I get info on it, it still says 1.2 MB, but if you try to open it, nothing happens. Icon in dock disappeared in DH's (Admin) dock, and other user he was setting up, but not my dock. Will not open from dock, nor apps folder as mentioned above.
