I have this model Macbook Pro:
Whenever I attach my Edirol UA-25 and use it with virtual DJ my temps reach between 80-90c with the fans at full speed. Compared to 48c when using the headphone out on the onboard soundcard. It also does this with a M-Audio Audiophile firewire card. Both cards are powered by the mac and cannot be used otherwise.
Does anyone know why the temperatures are so high and if it can be resolved?
Simply sounds like the 2 devices and the accomanying software use lots of CPU cycles. Nothing more.
The Core 2 Duo is rated up to 100c at which point the mac may power down. So being in the 80c range is fine when running CPU intensive stuff.
Nothing to worry about here.
