HI guys,

I have a linux debian machine and windows vista machine. Now the debian machine is called chris-pc and vista is called chris-laptop. I have shared a drive on chris-pc using nfs and the drive is visable to other linux machines. But when i try and mount the drive in vista it doesnt work.

A few things:

I can ping the linux machine from vista but not the other way round (am running avast and windows firewall)

The /etc/exports files on my linux machine

/sharing chris-Laptop(rw,sync,no_root_squash,no_subtree_check)
/home/chris/music chris-Laptop(rw,sync,no_root_squash,no_subtree_check)

How i try and mount it on vista.

Right click my computer then map network drive i put the address as \\chris-pc\sharing

It returns that the location is not avilable and if i click browse i cannot see the linux machine. Do i need to download any software to enable nfs mounts in vista i have tried google but have had no luck.

Cheers for any help.

On Vista

Try going into Networking and sharing
classic control panel->networking and sharing

make sure the network your on is set to private
then make sure that network discovery, file sharing and public file sharing are turned on

I'm sort of shootin in the dark at this one
I know nothing about linux

Also
Apparently Vista can't see a HDD that is formatted in Fat32
Has to be NTSF
