Short answer: Outlook Express can poll more than one account at startup, but “linking” them into a single merged inbox depends on how each provider exposes mail. ’s account-add steps are the right approach when a provider offers standard POP/IMAP access; however, some providers historically used HTTP/WebDAV or proprietary sync methods that force OE to treat those addresses as separate accounts/folders instead of delivering everything into one Inbox. (groups.google.com)

Yahoo note: the reason you saw conflicting advice in the thread is that Yahoo’s policy changed over time. For many users in the 2000s, POP access was a Mail Plus (paid) feature, so adding Yahoo to OE only worked if POP was enabled for that account. Yahoo now documents POP/IMAP and app-password requirements for third‑party clients, so check Yahoo’s help to see whether your specific account needs an upgrade or an app password before expecting OE to retrieve it. (learn.microsoft.com)

Hotmail/MSN note: Microsoft moved Hotmail access through several different protocols (POP, WebDAV/HTTP, then newer sync methods) and at times limited what free accounts could do with OE. That is why Hotmail often appears as its own account/folder in OE and cannot be merged cleanly into another POP Inbox — it’s a protocol/feature limitation, not an OE bug. Microsoft recommended upgrading clients (Windows Live Mail / Outlook + connectors) as the service evolved. (groups.google.com)

Practical options (concise): (1) If you want one inbox, move to a modern client that supports unified views and current auth (Thunderbird, Windows Live Mail, Outlook + connector). (2) If you must keep OE, confirm each provider actually offers POP/IMAP for your account (or purchase the provider’s paid tier). (3) As a last resort there have been third‑party POP proxies (FreePOPs, YPOPs) that emulate POP for webmail, but they are third‑party, less reliable, and carry security risks. Finally, because OE is obsolete and was not updated for modern authentication, migrating to a supported mail client is the safest long‑term choice. (en.wikipedia.org)

I think you have to pay extra money to yahoo, to be able to get your mail on OE.

That is not true. you don't have to pay for to set up yahoo in OE. But to link them to the same inbox i don;t think is posible because when you create the hotmail account the PROGRAM OE automatically creates some folders underneath the current folder list ENTITLED HOTMAIL. You will be able to create both email under the same profile and willl be able to checked them in the same profile, but they won't go to the smae folder. Yahoo will go to the INBOX folder and the HOTMAIL in the hotmail folder. If you don't kow how to set up yahoo in OE, just follow these steps..

On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
Click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
Click the Add button.
Click POP3, and then click Next.
Enter your e-mail account information.
In the Your Name box, type your name as you would like it to appear.
In the E-mail Address box, type your Yahoo! e-mail address, for example, .
In the Incoming mail server (POP3) box, type pop.mail.yahoo.com.
In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, type smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
In the User Name box, verify that everything before the at symbol (@) symbol of your Yahoo! e-mail address is displayed.
