Hi please could you tell me how to protect (lock with password) a folder on windows xp. Reason being is i have work on there and my son goes on to pc and do not want him deleting or accessing files. So i want to put a password on there so only i can access it. How do you do this? Thanks

I think what you are going to need to do is have your son log on to the machine as a different user than you and deny his user permissions to the folder you want to protect.

Yes...

From: http://www.pcmech.com/show/optimize/677/11

"You can make any folders private to all other users on the system by right clicking on the folder and going to the “Sharing tab. Check the “Make this folder private box and hit OK. Note that this only works on NTFS file systems."

if you are not using NTFS you will need to convert from FAT.

Start-->Run-->in the "Open" prompt type in cmd then click "Ok"

...once you're in the command prompt:

CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS
