my lab top has a blank white page and no desktop.
I don't know how it happened. How can I restore my desktop and get rid of this blank? I have already tried system restore but that was no help.

Follow the following address on opening the Registry Editor (WINkey+R/regedit)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Chk if there is a key to the right named 'NoDesktop' if yes then change its value to '0', restart and see if it works...
If it doesn't then please provide some more specific information relating to the problem....
