A few practical notes to complement ’s pointer to free resources and ’s DIY idea—short, actionable tips to avoid surprises when you pick or make cards, templates, or games.
Many older card and game sites used Adobe Flash; that technology reached end-of-life and is no longer supported by major browsers. If a site asks you to enable or install Flash, the content likely won't run in modern browsers and it’s safer to look for HTML5/MP4/GIF alternatives. ()
If you plan to print at home or through a shop, work at the final physical size (in inches) at 300 DPI, add a 1/8" (0.125") bleed, and keep all important text inside a 1/8" safe area to avoid cropping. For pro print, use CMYK color and embed fonts (or convert text to outlines) and export a print-ready PDF (PDF/X when available). Ask the printer for their preferred file specs before ordering. (moo.com)
For electronic cards, keep file size small for email (small JPG/PNG or optimized animated GIF; MP4 for video). Avoid Flash-based e-cards; use standard web formats or services that produce a “view in browser” link so recipients on phones and modern mail clients can see the card without extra plugins. ()
Check image and template licenses before reuse. Use resources that state “free for personal/commercial use” or Creative Commons terms, and follow attribution rules where required. When downloading templates or ZIPs, avoid running unknown installers—stick to direct image/PDF/ZIP downloads from reputable sites and keep antivirus up to date. (creativecommons.org)
Short checklist (before you download or print): confirm no Flash required; set canvas to final inches × 300 DPI; add 0.125" bleed; export embedded-font PDF; verify image/license terms.
