I have no sound & got a red x on the volume icon plus it says NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE IS INSTALLED. I did the scan hardware in device manager everything updated but i still got the red x & no sound........ANY SUGGESTIONS???

It rather sounds like the driver to the audio card is not fully operational. I suggst goto the device manger and look a tthe audio devices / system and see if there are any yellow or red exclamation marks etc. by right clicking and properties etc you should be able to update the drivers.
If that does not work then it appears that your sound card is either loose / disconnected or has gone the the recycle bin before its time!
