hi all!
i have c2d e6600 cpu, gtx 285 gpu, 4gb ram, win xp sp2, and everything worked fine till recently... on every 3d application cpu usage is 30-60%... i discovered this only few days ago... before that i had some fps issues, tried to update gpu driver and got this error in event viewer "The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume C:." event id is 55... after that, chck disk did it's job and after reboot i installed gpu drivers(booted 640x480res)
any idea is more than welcome

Have you try other GPU and check the result? Maybe you should try this. Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Adjust to best performance. But also check for virus as well.

i don't have another gpu but whole machine is 4y old and gpu is 2y old so it was not on top of my list of potencially failed hardware...
about viruses i checked 2 times with nod32, and one time with malwarebytes antimalware and one time with SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition and it's clean(full scans)...
also tried game booster(it can disable a lot of processes and services) and no change...

Start hijackthis up and place a tick in the box by the following entry.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C255C8A-E604-49b4-9D64-90988571CECB} - (no file)

Then click "fix checked".

There is nothing bad showing in your log but I would suggest that you update windows to service pack 3 via windows update.

Do you have your system overclocked? If so, by how much and have you clocked FSB, PCI clock, and voltages independantly? I would also like to know what power supply unit you are using, what wattage it is, and how many amps it has on the 12 volt rail(s).

nothing is overclocked... only thing i changed in bios is multiplier for cpu so it can run 2.4ghz like it should, and that change was made 4y ago...
power supply is cooler master 600w and amps for 12v are: 18amps for +12v and 18amps for -12v (i haven't checked it now, but i'm pretty sure these are the amps...)

What about installing service pack 3 tho? Your log shows you only have service pack 2!
There is a possibility that updating will help!

as far as i can tell everything work fine now...
problem was in nvidia drivers.. when i uninstalled all of them, and installed them again, problem was gone...
only weird thing i noticed during uninstallation was that i had 2 physx drivers installed... maybe they caused all this..
