I want to give my machine to charity, but I will
need to completely wipe the hard drive.
What is the best free programme for doing this?

You might be able to help me out here caperjack.
Every time I use CC Cleaner I lose my automatic logins
to sites.
Is there a way to avoid this?

logins are saved as cookies ,so uncheck cookies when running ccleaner ,

Or you may prefer to allow CCleaner to remove most cookies by leaving that Cookies box checked. Then go Options, Cookies, and select the cookies you wish to not have deleted [the ones with your log-ins, for eg].
