Do you have more info other than the OS you are running that could help us help you?

how old is the computer? what brand internet card? Is it internal to the motherboard of an add-on card?

Core 2 Quad 8300, 3GB DDR2, Intel Core 2 Quad/Intel Motherboard DG43GT Internet is integrated (Gigabit Ethernet). All began after I made a clean reintall of OS Windows 7 pro and an update.

Likely you ned to install the driver, or there is a device conflict on your system. Open the device manager and look for yellow exclaimation marks in the list of devices. Remember that a rogue or faulty device may be using the recources needed by your network adapter!
