Windows XP Upgrade

Hi,

I wish to Upgrade my PC for the future softwares going to be released.... Like Windows Vista

Currently I have:

Processor:

Intel Penitum 4 Processor 540 with Hyperthreading Technology
3.20 GHz, 800Mhz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, 90nm

RAM:
512 MB RAM -- 400 MHz DDR SDRAM Memory

Hard Drive / Local Disks:
160 GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA hard Drive

Graphics:
ATI Radeon X 300 SE, PCI Express Graphic Card With TV out port and 128 Mb DDR Video Memory

Can you please gimme some advice on some of the System Hardwares that are best for my PC.... So that i wont have to upgrade it every year.

I would like to look at a better Graphics card. The Game NFS Most wanted is kind of Laggy on my computer. ...

I also wish to buy games like NFS carbon and BF 2142 to play....

and they require high level graphics

Please give me some advice

get a better gfx card and more ram

i have prettymuch the same machine except i have an x600 and 1gb of ram and vista barely runs on it

also you can only upgrade to vista home standard if you have xp home ed. you need MCE to upgrade to premium and Pro to upgrade to ultimate

Wow I never realised that (yay I have MCE).

I agree RAM and a new graphics card.
