I am totally confused what is the difference between the Hostname Vs Virtual Host?

Can any one explain about this?

A virtual host, is a server where a website can be hosted on. It may have a name instead of an ip number, so the DNS points to the server where the ip number is assigned to. The hostname can be the name of this server, or it can refer to the website hosted on this server.
