this is the problem that i have:
i have modem i want to calculate maximum data rate with compression and without compression i have the sr=8000sample per sec and sample=byte and symboling rate =8000kbps and compression=50% i like to know any answer would help me to solve this problem

Data rate of the devices is fixed. Higher layer compression strategies do not change that value.
Perhaps you are interested in the total goodput increase based on compression?
