Hey man, thanks for the tip,,,, I added two more fans to help with the heat up problems if any at all. The ram suggestion,,, I got more speed, but where could I learn more on upping the ram? I believe that is where I need to start.
SillyBilly 35 Junior Poster
I was wondering why I cant get close to the max capability speed of 3700 MHz. I get around 3255 MHz and after that It wants to shut down.

I had a little problem with my permissions but I have it fixed. During this I noticed in my C:/Documents and Settings/All users folder>properties, that there was an unknown Account named "AccountUnknown(S-1-5-32-547)" with full permissions except take ownership and on the Properties of the "Default User" folder properties> security tab, The same account is there too, but only with "read and execute, list folder content, and read" permissions. I have some pics to show what it looked like. Is this normal or does mcafee use this in there security software, the software I use thrue my isp. do I remove it or what? Thanks so much.

Gerbil,,O.k., I do have a 10 and 20gb hard drive that I formated and is clean, NTFS. So it would be sufficient to put this drive in and place paging file on it cause I would put nothing else on it..??? A very complicated subject even after all the reading I have done, and I am sorry if I am being difficult understanding.
SillyBilly 35 Junior Poster
So do I need a partition on my main drive? It is a sata, and my other hard drive is just a regular drive. I have room for multiple drives, should I add one, say a 10gig just for my paging file, and should it be NTFS, or Fat32? Sorry I am not understanding fully, like one person said to put it at the front of the drive, I do not understand how to get it to the front.

I never noticed them like this on my other machine which was a pentium4 786 mb ram, nvidia Gforce 4,. My dvd's are playing pretty smooth, but all my saved videos are not. Any clues or tips? I have attached a snap shot, hope it helps.

Caperjack,
That was alot of info if you explore the other links and take time to read. I conscider myself to be an advanced user, but sometimes wonder. I guess everyone could have their own opinion on the tweaking subject, but I have found that 90% of what I have done has realy boosted my overal performance and also made my cpu user friendly, and easy to maintain. Thanks alot for the link, it was awsome info.

My question is, Do I need to have a paging file, System Managed or custom size, and what are the advantages and dis advantages? I play alot of Quake2 on line, and I am still shooting for speed, does this affect any of this?

I am not an expert, but I know a little about video cards because I love gaming. I would try to use resolution 800X600, and then set refresh rate at lowest setting, be sure to click on the option that reads, "Hide modes that this monitor can not display." If that does not work, try setting at each refresh rate to see if it will fix the problem.
Does this happen in safe mode? Do you have another monitor to try and see if it does it on both monitors?
SillyBilly 35 Junior Poster
Well I reposted, because you could not read all of message. Hope I fixed it, and thanks so much guy's.

Could someone look at this log for me and tell me if my machine is o.k.??? Sure looks like alot of stuff, seeing how I have every thing disabled in this profile. I set up a profile for just gaming, bare bones, for speed, and i just don't see a big difference.
Thank you so much for your help.

Mr. Hugh,
The viper web sight and about 6 hours of careful reading, step by step, I have made four hardware profiles, each to its own purpose. Wow, I just learned how to screw my brand new machine up!!!lol... I learned alot, but most important to any one who has an itch to try this, PLEASE, read every step and skip no lines and the reward is awsome!!!! Thank you all so much for helping me, One day I too will have more than a "0" for help solved threads.
Again, thanks to all, I am really fast now!!! Weeeeeee!!!
SillyBilly 35 Junior Poster
So basicaly, I need one hard drive to run my games, and one hard drive to run my regular stuff???? I hope I am not being difficult here. I will read the links that where left for me, but I will hold off on trying anything fancy because there seems to be a debate on what would be right or wrong going by the threads that where left for this topic. Hmmmm?.

I play a lot off games on line, and I would like to know if I could have one startup in win xp home for say only games, meaning disabling any services are running programs that I would not use for gaming commiting all memory and pcu use to only gaming. Then have another start up for my regular use. Is this possible, if so, where do I get info on this?
SillyBilly 35 Junior Poster
I had my little bro put together a CPU for me and with the budget I had, I ended up with:
AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 3.0 g
2- Nvidia Gforce 7600 GT video cards
2- 1gig OCZ dII 800ddr ram
OCZ|OCZ700GXSSLI 700W RT power supply
windows xp sp2
My question is,about over clocking graphics and cpu, and benchmarking. I am experienced user but this is all new to me with this high tech SLI and dualcore and dual video. I am using AI booster which came with the equipment, but Really scared to do a whole lot. I have resourced the manufactures webs and I keep running in circles,,, any help or advice????
Part2:
When I reboot, it takes a very long time, and I have my bios setup for quick boot and all that but still slow. It was very fast when first installed everything, but now for ever it takes!!!
Thanks so much,,,

O.k, I got one for ya.... My profile is corupted so I just made a new one quick like and set it up like I had it. I then had to set up outlokk express, but I checked my mail and all my folders and mail are gone... Where does outlook store the mail from my mail server so I can import it into my new profile???

well, what I have done, is installed onto a new hard drive win xp,,, and the few little programs like my Quake2 and Cake walk pro audio 9, I am copying to new folder on new drive after I install them. I will keep the original hard drive untill a solution is found. And yes I tried a new install but haulted because it said I would loose my doc and so on. It would not give me the option to repair in the install win xp, after exepting the F8 agreement. If you know what I am talking about. Thanks for the try though,, maybe someone can feel my pain!!! O.k. techs,,, lets put you through the test.... I was doing a repair install, and all was good untill 3 to 5 minutes left of process, (xp install), and my cpu rebooted. After reboot it would only go to black screen with my mouse curser showing. After some research on this web sight, I found some help and followed the long process to the "T". after the reeboot I was to go to safe mode and follow more instructions, but as I selected safe mode, it showed the scrolling screen of loading drivers but froze right when you would think it was going to log in screen. I let it set for an hour, just in case it was just slow, but still would not proceed to log in screen. so I reset the cpu, and let it go back to normal start up and as it gets to the logo screen with the green night rider car bar,(do not know how to describe the moving bar), it runs through the driver load up, I can tell this by my key board lights flashing once to show recogenision, and when it starts to the logon page, it just goes black and does nothing else,,, FROZEN!! I could reformat and reinstall, but my recording studio is my life,,, and would you believe, I have not backed this up in a while. I put to much faith in my cpu I know,,, Rookie mistake for an advanced user,,, OOPS!!. I have other …

Ok guys,, it was that I was first using tuneupxp 2006, and in the system control section there was a boot up screen option that you could have say something before logging on. somehow this got triggerd and was actually just being annoying instead of a threat. it was a bug but not dangeruose. the other errors I was getting,, I feel dumb about this,,, anyways, was I was tring to log on to my network in a domain, and from what I gatherd, xp doesnt support that type,,, not sure anyways,,, all seems to be fine,, If someone could look at that hijack.log at top to make a final descision I would thank you!!!! peace out,,, and sorry again for the wild goose chase!!

Theres a couple of things you can try.
!) Pull the jack out of card and make sure that there is no build up on the plug.
2) Where the wire goes in to the head set, gently wigle to see if there is a short. Also wiggle at jack end while plugged in of course.
3) if this is not the case, then make sure your wire is not run across electrical cords.
4) Try taking a pencil or pen, just something small, and wrap a few rounds of the cable around it and see if it changes
5) If it is a crackle sound then you might have a bust voice coil in the ear speaker
Static in headphones and microphones is caused by the unwrapping of the shield cable in side the coverd wire. It has either worked its way and is getting feed back through the ground side, or The voice coil of the speaker is doing the short, you can check the ohms of this with an ohm/ volt meter putting red on the tip of the plug, and black up on the longer part of the silver plug. Check documentation to see what the ohms of you speaker is and compare. The reading should be within 1 or 2 % of the actuall. Hope this helped.

I noticed while trying to get a good shot of the screen, that the symbols inlayed in the blue erea would change dramaticly as in the number of symbols that where there. It started with 3 or 4, then after it sat for a minute, it chang to about nine, with ".ILO", and not sure about the ILO part, but I couldn't get a snap off before it changed. Hope this will help... well I did get a shot of it changing But they are not real clear. Best I could get. And is IPSEC service supposed to be running, it is set to Automatic but is the only one set to auto that is not runnig at start up?? Thanks very much for the help.

When I boot my system I get a blue screen like a login box, except it has foriegn symbles of some kind at the first line. I can't get a snap shot and it only has an "x" to close, which does nothing,, an "OK" box which lets it proceed to log in. It only has a few characters, and I cant duplicate them. When I did all my scans plus some new ones just in case of a new threat, I rebooted and at the top of the box at end it had "winlogon". Before that it in the same line had about ten different symbles, kinda looked chineese or somthing. here is latest hijack log. Any help or clue about what I am describing?? I also attached one of the symbols to a word doc, it is as if you could write text in it, with the little curser flashing,,, god this is hard to explain,,, maybe I can use camera to take picture and upload if that will help.
