link software is good for seeing where your competitors are getting links... so you can add the ones you do not have

Forget about PR - it is overrated... are you in the blog directories? try http://blogs.botw.org/
and do a search for more... also have you submitted to the blog aggregators like feedster etc?
Good blog posts can be submitted to digg and the other social media and get you traffic that way... as well as links etc.
Google has played with it... Astara is an aussie company doing tech for this type of marketing
eric ... agree certain spits are not advertising but links should be seen as such... since Google drops givers of PR merely because tey are sponsored links
mate you need tracking to determine ROI
I like being a newbie... less pressure to know everything
Try looking for the forums... if your niche is not there start one
get rich quick... but spend a lot of time getting to that point
does not work on myspace but you can include your own adsense code and banner ads
is a great starting point.... get the basic on page stuff covered a read about building traffic through blogs, news and other means... then start building inbound traffic
I had heard there was one coming in february - pr update... but only rumor at this stage but link count will impact numbers in some cases.... the geometric nature of pr makes numbers high to see change
Hi
im missing something here.... can someone explain pelase? so you set up a non selling webisite, but you allow google adverts on your webpage, then everytime someone enters your site and clicks on the ad you get paid per click..?thanks
melanie
You are joking right.... https://www.google.com/adsense/login/en_US/?gsessionid=fuag9siZrqg
So does TribalFusion but remmanent banners bring about $2-4 CPMs.
Also try thenewsroom.com they give a news feed with a rev share
lol..... branding is seprate from ranking.... you can always have the branded domain as a standalone or even have it redirect to the other
Ah, this is always a hot topic at the conferences.
Think of subdomains as a way to organize your site's structure, rather than as a means to to rank better. Great examples of sites that properly and effectively use subdomains are craigslist (organized by region), wikipedia (language), and the NYT (section).
For what it's worth, Matt Cutts of Google "says" that keywords in the URL's may help rankings.
such a good informative poster....
any time.... keep the questions coming
I was never one for using keywords in my URL. I would rather have a catchy domain name that is brandable and conducive to word of mouth as opposed to something that strings together a bunch of search keywords.
that used to be the case and the branding thing is still true but look at Google search results... the domain name as a keyword gets a lot of play these days
My idea was to use the sub domains in order to insert in the domains my key words
I mean my website url regretfully has not the keywords that I like ... so maybe someting likethis can help?
I have not thought to insert link from sub domain to my main domain in order to increase ingoing number of links .... I think will not work at all, will be considered internal link.
the page names can cover a lot of that.... as well as strategic subdirectories
Google Webmaster Tools is good.... also many people in Supplemental are using the same description for every page and in many cases the same title tags.... make sure each is unique... also do not have too much duplicated content on every page... except for navigation and footers etc
some time you may not have enough other content and the pages score high for duplication
If you are regional make sure you add pages for the names of the towns - in the title, description and page content.
You can assign points for posts and use them for prize drawings... you can have prizes for random thread numbers drawn every week etc.
Members can vote for the best thread and the starter gets a prize.
Snap.com is another that is cool.... Yahoo Publishing Ntework is open now as are others.
They are using contextual advertising methods.... I would recommend a mixture of PPC and banners to optimize your income... the banners do not breach the terms and conditions of the PPC ads
Too young to get a job? Start a blog and put adsense on it.... start a site about something other teens would get into.... they click on everything - as you admit to - try skateboarding, video games, school work, all age concert info.... anything you would enjoy and add adsense.... learn a little about SEO and you can make money from that as well as other affiliate programs.
My 15 year old gets $100 a page designing MySpace pages for businesses
If you are talking about PPC that you use to bring traffic and convert by selling your products then Google has the most available traffic.... that does not mean it is the best.
You need to use a tracking program to measure which keywords and which ads have the right fit for your site and products.
I have found that MSN and Yahoo are converting better but with much less volume... hence Google would give me more sales and more profit but with a higher cost per acquisition.
If you keep reinvesting you will eventually be able to use them all.
Also 7search is a great small engine with the best ROI but very low numbers for us in the financial vertical.
Bottomline - you need tracking and analytics to streamline your PPC campaigns to the best profitability.
Google AdSense :) I used to use ValueClick banner advertising and the results were about only half as good.
you could have left the banners and just added the adsense.....
AdSense is the most consistent and profitable PPC publishing platform.
I have used them all and the others have not been as consistent. Yahoo's YPN pays a higher click rate but gets fewer clicks. Bidvertiser has a steady lower rate - but does not get the occasional really high clicks AdSense can give.
The trick to any of these publishing systems is good specific content on each page that is geared to the right ads.... Google has more advertisers and thus will offer more ads that could be right for your audience.
I would use AdSense and then look for a media company like TribalFusion that gives you banners and can be run on the same page as AdSense....
Google will not allow you to run other PPC programs on pages that contain their ads - they can take all your earned income if they see it.
