Had my 7 Ultimate 64 bit go south to the point of reinstall. Everything is going smoothly except that I cannot change the screen resolution to fit the monitor. It is stuck at 1024 x 768. I did update the nVidia graphics adapter with MS update and attempted to change …
Could someone please explain why Windows Explorer is so insanely unstable? Vista32, 7-32, 7-64....it doesn't matter. WE will crash at the drop of a hat. It SUCKS. Let's right click on in the navigation pane. Oh, whoops!! All that crap just went byebye. It is an effing file manager!! How …
For a file manager, Windows Explorer (for later puropses, WE)is extremely unstable. Why? First, even MS cannot figure out what you are referring to when you say 'Windows Explorer'. They tend to think you mean the browser. I think they are trying to fix the terminalogy in 8, but dear …
Once in a while I get photos that come out completely sqaushed in Windows Photo Viewer. It is obviously not the file's problem since they render just fine in Irfanview. Not a major problem, but definitely an annoyance. Any clues?
Does any one know of a registry hack whereby one could add a 'move/copy to folder...' to the right click menu when in Windows Photoviewer? It is insanely useful in Windows Explorer and this would save me time and headaches :) Using 7 Ultimate. Also, I miss all the extras …
Had a bad uninstall of Java and now when trying to reinstall 7u10 I end up with the following dialogue: "This software has already been installed on your computer. Would you like to reinstall it?" "Yes." "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed." /end Repeat, ad …
I seem to have screwed the whole process of updating Java to 10 simply because I could not stop the stupid process after I realized that I couldn't take 9 off at the same time. Uh, kinda stupid thing to try, true, but anything worth its salt won't let you …
For unknows reasons, other than the fact that I'm trying to intall Windows 8 beta on a separate partion (and the fact that, well, I AM dealing with Windows <sigh>. I kept ending up with a dead 8GB thumb drive that was dead because Windows, in its infinite wisdom caused …
How does one stop Windows from trying to "help" you? I am thinking Windows Explorer and the download file dialogue.Windows apparently would like to think it knows what you are doing. It doesn't. Not by a long shot. Ever attempted to drag'n'drop? It is like nailing jello to the wall.Oooh … ![]()
I am here to find out why all of your so-called operating systems on this planet are so, I believe you say "****ed"? More seriously, I just "upgraded" from Vista Home Pro to 7 Ultimate and I was so happy thinking these bizarre quirks of Vista are in the past. …
At one point recently I booted up Vista and got one of those "possible corrupt files" (can't remember exactly phrasing) messages basically wanting me to run a full ChkDsk to correct the problem. Ever since, I keep getting the message that Windows Search (the service) is not functioning. It is …
I would like to get 'help and support' back on my XP machine, but this is proving difficult. I need to turn on the service, but it is not even listed in the services console (it goes from 'Health Key and Certificate Management Service' to 'HTTP SSL' with nothing in …
Not to sure where to post this and am starting here. Am having major problems downloading images from gmail recently. For one thing, the 'view all images' feature just gives a blank page. It gets far worse from there. I now know that it ain't just my puter cause I …
Re: Installed SP2 beta on my desktop last night and it hasn't blown up yet. It installed fairly quickly (considering the size) and only rebooted once. Things seems to be working a bit faster, but I really haven't used it enough to say much about it, except that, at least, it …
This small annoyance is something I get as XP finishes running its scripts after booting. Unfortunately, that is the entirety of the message. No clue as to what the problem might be. It is not a problem per se, but it IS an annoyance that I would like to be …
Re: A free program called Revo Uninstaller [http://www.revouninstaller.com/] is quite useful for this type of situation. It invokes a native uninstaller and afterwards scans for leftover files and registry entries. Why Windows itself has never been able to do this is just a headscratcher.
Re: I have been having the same problem. I did manage to get the service back with these instructions: 1. Open a command prompt. 2. Navigate to %windir%\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries 3. Run this command: start /w helpsvc /svchost netsvcs /regserver /install 4. Once this command completes the Help and Support service should now … |
The End.
