It sounds like your cookies arent being saved on the problem machene....

GOto INTERNET OPTIONS and goto the privacy tab and see what your cookies settings are set at......

Example:

I have my 1st and 3rd party cookies set to PROMPT......

The ideal setting is to ACCEPT 1st party cookies and BLOCK 3rd party cookies.. (I just dunno if i wanna blindly accept all 1st party cookies (Sometimes while browisng i goto new sites and like being asked wheather i wanna accept thier cookies or not.))

Even then i have heard that M$ has installed some update that automatically changes it back to AUTOMATIC (I have read a few ppl saying this has happend to them)

For those of you not aware, the Digg Bot is an actual legal DaniWeb bot.

I knew that straight away when i saw it.. (Other sites have similar things for gathering news)

It was all contained in 1 base so its not a big deal,ya wanna read the news,just goto the news base :)

Are you using a browser that has an AUTO REFRESH option??

Like with my broswer "MyIE2" i can set an auto refresh which will do what your stating..... (I dont use it though)

If we had a test area here,we should disable post counts ON THAT BASE (So ppl dont just post crap to increase thier count)

Many sites im on have such an area and almost all of them have post counts disabled...

MyIE2 is an IE add on that uses the IE engine to render pages and such.........

I tested with MyIE2 (IE Engine) (with scripts enabled) and a few things were reported,then i disabled scripts again and NOTHING WAS REPORTED....

YOU MUST HAVE SCRIPTS ENABLED FOR THIS TEST!

Yes i have mine set @ 48 (A friend posted a speed tweak for Firefox a few years ago and i tried it on IE6 and it works wonderfully :))
