I think this might help out a bit: http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/javascript-ajax/how-to-create-a-simple-web-based-chat-application/
you really want him to end up arrested and in prison for assault and maybe attempted manslaughter?
nah, i was going to make sure he asked nicely, but looked more intimidating (with a bat) :)
I am sorry, but I don't mean to come out mean but... why didn't you just Google this question? Some questions make sense if they are a bit challenging, but this is just a little ridiculous.
There are 2 methods: Get a lawyer and pursue this case from there... this method is a little more expensive (unless you have a cousin that is a lawyer).
or method 2 is to approach them with a bat... your call :)
I have a feeling your referring to a live chat on a web page? I am kind of lost... do you mind clarrifying a bit more on what you are looking for...
@ryan, i should keep that in mind next time when I provide a snippet. Thanks for the advice. :)
BTW, i meant to post this in the code snippets, sorry for any confusions.
This is just a simple image fade.
This is the HTML:
<a href="#"><img src="#.png" class="fade">
Pretty simple, right?
Are we allowed to share other people's code snippets (in the code snippets) as long as we reference them? I don't want anyone to get in trouble if I share code from other sites...
I did it once for a "Go back" button for the php snippets.
thanks for pointing that out (i am still not a pro in php (as you can tell))... what do you recommend to do if using $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']?
Granted, you crashed.
I wish i was as old as AD
how about http://programmr.com/ or http://lynda.com/ or http://daniweb.com/ or http://google.com/
The Head First book series makes some pretty darn good books on learning languages. To me, they are the best overall...
Well, to be a nice web developer, you just offer your clients a cup of coffee and a bagel plus do their work for free... just kidding.
What you should do is be well rounded with web development and design in general. Learn the languages and expirement with what you can make. Then start selling your services and start sharing your knowledge.
Granted, now your epic face looks ugly.
I wish i make a million dollars for every single character i type, say, or write.
ah, that makes sense.
I learned a new technique (from Chris Coyier), and I thought it may be helpful for you guys.
Some of you guys may find this helpful if your creating a preview/demo page and you want to go back to original page. This could help you guys.
<?php
$return = htmlspecialchars($_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']);
echo "<a href='$return'>return to page</a>";
?>

@stbuchok, I agree with you but I was giving him a recommendation that it can be a bit more effective for him if he learns a little more on development. you never know what ideas will trigger.
So you say you've been doing your finals for the past couple of months... or where you actualy on an undercover mission with the Secret Intelligence Service?
that would be so much better...
the silence was killing us ;)
I noticed on this thread lol
@joe, i think he has gotten a solution after 2 months?
Well, if you want be a good web designer, enhance your skills on html5/css3, php, photoshop, etc.
Web Designing is a good choice but I would say it is better to be well rounded and also know web development. The extra cash in your pocket would be nicer, wouldn't it?
The OP obviously does not have access to a search engine. I hope he returns and thanks you all for your valuable contributions. It's been a week...
I wonder how he found this site then...
you can easily fix that by using the percentage %. Let's say that the background div has an id of 'context', then the css would contain:
context:{width:100%};
if you don't want to complicate your self by opening the css file and save and refresh. Use the firebug plugin on firefox or use the inspect element of google chrome browser so you can preview changes directly on the browser without affecting your files. When you're ok with the width, apply the changes to your files.
Good luck
Thanks for being more clear on what I said. I hope it helps the OP out a bit more!
Congratulations on the exams. Good to see you back. I'm glad my exam days are long behind me. I wouldn't go through that again for anything.
I have a few more years of exams left to do... once I get my PhD, no more exams! but oh well, i got to endure the pain for a little bit longer.
without you , there was quiet silence in Geeks' Lounge Forum , but now i hope there will be more activity , more threads and more replies as well.
haha, i have noticed that ;)
Thanks for your welcome :)
with your css, don't use pixels try using percentages... such as width: 25%
that should help making it responsive.

@Reverend Jim, I aced all those tests! :) I felt like I over prepared because it felt really easy... and painful because of the amount of questions there were.... :D
Making a search box isn't complex at all... styling it is also very simple. You can find many tutorials on how to do it.
Here is one, http://speckyboy.com/2012/02/15/how-to-build-a-stylish-css3-search-box/
Anyone here looking into GTA 5?
The very last movie I have seen was The Wolverine. It was pretty good.

Hi you guys! Sorry, for being gone for 2 months. I had a bunch of finals, and last night I finished the last bit of my AP homework assignments for next year. I also managed to work on my web development and software skills lately (I am getting better with C# and Java).
I have noticed a whole lot has changed, nice job Dani!
BTW, I noticed some people have missed me :) http://www.daniweb.com/community-center/geeks-lounge/threads/455187/m-or-michael
*Also, I may not be posting as often. Since I am entering sophmore year, I have more and more school work to be done. But don't worry, I will still be here.
@Labdabeta, my grandparents say the same things (almost all of them) and they are also in medical (grandpa is a heart surgeon and my grandma is a plastic surgeon).
I would not trust the evergy drinks some of them are pure sugar and that will just cause a deeper crash.
Not all of them are pure sugar... some of them are just pure chemicals like rockstar, monster, 5 hour energy, red bull, etc...
Lol, very true! But at least now I have a few lines I can use on her that she won't know I didn't come up with. ;P
Use the one where iron man tells his girlfriend that she will never be okay in a relationship with him (at the end of the movie, when they kill the real mandarin).
Yes, I have seen a few in a aquariams and my neighbor has one (and a bunch of other strange aquatic animals and big dog).
