My Toshiba L770 Satellite Laptop does not power up, no LEDs lit when power adapter is plugged in. Power adapter producing 19.4 volts. Opened up laptop and got 19.4 volts at end of power connector harness when not connected to motherboard and approx 0.5 volts at connector pins on motherboard when adapter is connected. Visual inspection of motherboard showed no obvious problems. Battery doesn't have any affect, whether installed or removed. Also removed BIOS battery for 30 seconds and reinstalled. Still no sign of life from laptop. Does this sound like a bad motherboard? Thanks, LPM

A few months ago I replaced my Toshiba Satellite A665 hard drive. A couple of weeks ago I upped my RAM from 4 to 8Gb. Is it a coincidence that shortly thereafter it started not to boot properly? When I wake it up from sleep the hard drive starts to spin, then it suddenly goes black, and then the (safe mode) window with the "start windows normally" highlighted appears. I click and it starts up again but anything I was working on is now gone.

I am planning to buy a new laptop within a budget of 700 $. I am going to use it for mainly programming purposes so I don't really care for graphic card etc. I am looking for the following features:- i5 processor 200 GB + HD 4GB + RAM I am not really concerned with the other features. Also would these specifications suffice for programming purposes ? Are these specifications too much for my purpose? Would you advise purchasing a Toshiba /Dell/HP laptop? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Everytime I try and browse the internet on my Toshiba laptop, the pages will load, but after waiting a stupid amount of time.. I have tried everything to fix it (Malware removal, Search n Destroy, AVG, wireless card update, defrag, windows update, ethernet connection, multiple browsers) It's definatly not my router thats the problem or the wireless card as other laptops in the house can connect and run super quick.. Im all out of ideas. And nothing seems to fix it.. Specs for the laptop are: Toshiba Intel R Celeron CPU 900 2.20ghz, 2.19 GHz Ram: 1GB 32 Bit Operating …

Hi. Well my laptop just recently began to shut itself down automatically and it happens very often now. At first I thought it could be overheating but they laptop feels fine and pretty cool. I thought it could be a programme so I did System Restore to a date WAAAAAY before the problem began and it still didn't fix the problem. The laptop suddenly went off and so I tried turning it back on using battery power and the battery itself was at least 80% full (or so the laptop said) and it wouldn't come on so then I tried …

Toshiba 305 Laptop. Took a blunt trauma to the keyboard, will not start up. [B]On power up, the power on light starts, sometimes the hard drive light will flash very quickly and go out. Then nothing. Nothing ever appears on the display. No beeps. I'm running Arch Linux on my computer and I found a Toshiba External SuperMulti Drive. Model: PA37610-1DV2 I plug it in and it doesn't work. Doesn't even detect it. The reason I'm using it is it's faster than my internal drive and my internal drive doesn't burn dual-layer. So... Any ideas to get this to work?

There's only one iPad (discounting model variations) but there's a small army of Android tablets demanding your attention and your money. The question is, are any of them better than the market defining Apple? DaniWeb goes hands-on to find out... If you think about tablet computing these days then the chances are what you actually mean is the Apple iPad vision of a slate-based device. That's not altogether surprising when you consider how long Microsoft, and others, had been trying to break this market only to falter and fail. The iPad, without doubt, energized a genre by pretty much redefining …

Hello, I have a Acer Aspire 5920 that currently has a 15.4" display, which has very low contrast and and low resolution(1280x800). I just recently had my old 17" Toshiba crap out on me, and it has a absolutely gorgeous screen, high contrast and the resolution is (1440x900). Now what in trying to do is to replace my Acer's 15.4" LCD with the 17" from my old Toshiba. Now before I get bashed saying it cant be done, I have already experimented with it, with very pleasing results. The Acer's inverter powered the back lights just fine, and when I …

I recently received a used Toshiba Tecra 9000 from my brother. It has several problems, but I'm only bothered by one. I"ll list all the problems though. 1(the one that bothers me). I've been using Ubuntu Live to test/operate the computer, but recently (last two days) it has started freezing while loading the OS. If I pull out the AC power supply, partially remove the battery, or tap on the corner of the laptop over the battery, it will sometimes start loading for a few seconds. I have taken down, and re-assembled it a few times, and I'm pretty sure …

Hey Everyone! I'm stuck and could use a hand ^-^ I have a Toshiba Portege M200 thats giving me a head ache :P I just got the machine, it was working great but was used, and I wanted to erase everything on it and start fresh. I preformed the steps listed here http://home.allegiance.tv/~joem298/ and everything worked great! I then messed up the software while trying a few things to configure the machine to more of my liking (software wise, have not changed the hardware at all). Decided it be best to just start over again, so once again I do …

the Toshiba P305D-S8900 I am working on has a no start problem. It seems to power on and there is hard drive activity but nothing on the screen. It failed to start again after closing it one day.I ran into this problem on a Dell I own and discovered it was the CMOS battery. I am hoping this is a simple fix like that one was but I can't find where the CMOS battery is. Does anyone have any ideas? I have the keyboard out and still don't see anything that looks like a battery.

Hi, I have a Toshiba NB300 laptop running win7, and I'm trying to run some software that requires a screen res of at least 1024x700. Unfortunately, the max res of this laptop is 1024x600. I have searched the web looking for a solution for this, people with similar issues had been advised to uncheck the 'Hide modes that this monitor cannot display' button in the properties menu, or reduce the screen refresh rate however these appear to be disabled. I understand that the quality might be reduced significantly but is there any work around besides returning my laptop? I don't …

Hi, My laptop was working perfectly fine with internet. I would connect wirelessly with no issue. One day my laptop stop working with wireless. It said local only. I didn't worry, i had fixed this issue before by adding the IP, DNS, and Gateway manually. This time when i added it, it still said local only. Then i couldn't even open up firefox. I went to go plug in ethernet. When i did, the lights went on, i turned off wireless, and it still said local only. It used to always work before but now it doesn't work at all! …

Here's a new take on an old problem. I followed the other thread where problems with the memory slots on the old Toshiba Tecra 8100 were gradually losing contact with the mobo, and some had found a temporary solution - placing a piece of paper over the memory module to provide more pressure directly towards the motherboard. For some, it worked (for a while), and for some, it did not. I've added a new twist to this solution, which I am now in the process of seeing just how long it will last. Instead of using a piece of paper, …

The system says it is connected to my wireless network with good signal but I cant get online or access my network. Using an Ethernet cable it works perfectly. The strange thing is that a friend with a similar Toshiba laptop has exactly the same problem. All our other computers connect with no problems. Hello Everyone.. I am working on a Toshiba Satellite P305D-S8834 that has no power at all. The client decided to work on the laptop while there was a nasty storm in our area. He said he was just putting in the login password when it just went off - it apparently made a small sound.. like zoop.. ? .. and would not power on again. The power cord that he has with his machine is a universal one, so it doesn't have a light on it to show if it's working or not.. so I ordered a replacement cord & …

Hi all, I hope you are well. My notebook appears to be overheating: I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro p100 PSPAE which has two intel Centrino Duo processors - T7200. I am using Real temp 3.0 to display my temperature readings, and at idle (with only Firefox open) I am getting readings of 65 C, but if I play F.E.A.R. , which is quite a graphically intensive game, I get readings around 90C, at which point I have to stop playing as the notebook will shut itself down once it reaches 100 C (it has shut itself down abruptly a …

Hey, I really hope you can help me on this. Recently I bought a cheap Laptop Toshiba Tecra A4 at Ebay. It was said there is a hard drive defect only...it's not. When I try to switch the laptop on the lamps go on and the DVD drive starts to spin..everything normal. But then after about 3 seconds it switches off before it can reach the bootscreen - like I would remove the power cable. Last week Toshiba unveiled a series of server-class hard drives that can store as much as 600GB in a 2.5-inch form factor. They're the first products to result from its acquisition of Fujitsu's hard drive business early last year. Self-encryption can potentially save IT departments hundreds of hours of labor in key management, data retrieval and scrubbing. The drives …
