I have seen yesterday that Yahoo switched to pure Inktomi results. If you look at MSN now you will see the same exact results. Does anyone have any additional information about this?

Short follow-up tied to the observations in this thread. noted identical Yahoo/MSN results; that kind of parity can show up for short periods or as the result of platform-level changes. For longer-term context, Microsoft and Yahoo announced a search partnership in July 2009 that later caused many Yahoo results to be served via Microsoft/Bing (see the Microsoft release below). To determine what was happening for the specific snapshot you saw, run a quick, repeatable check rather than relying on a single query.

  • Normalize your client: use private/incognito windows, same geolocation, and no logged-in accounts to remove personalization.
  • Build 20–50 test queries across types (navigational, informational, long tail, random strings).
  • Save the top-10 URLs from each engine and compute overlap percentage (identical URL matches).
  • Compare snippets and cached timestamps — exact snippet + identical cache time across engines is consistent with a shared index or cached feed.
  • Use advanced operators (site:, inurl:, filetype:) to test index coverage differences.
  • For historic verification consult archived SERPs (Internet Archive) and contemporary announcements.

For background reading and the later platform change, see the Microsoft press release and the Yahoo! Search history entry. Thanks to and for the context in earlier replies.
