Hello everybody,

Short answer for : "pinging" originally meant telling feed/trackback services and aggregators that a post changed so crawlers could find it faster. It’s a discovery signal, not a ranking signal — pinging can speed discovery or re-crawl attempts but it does not by itself make Google rank a page higher. (developers.google.com)
Practical nuance (pulling together points from , and ): many blogs (WordPress, etc.) still send XML‑RPC “update service” pings (Ping‑o‑Matic and friends) to feed directories; that helps some aggregators see new content but isn’t a magic SEO boost. Modern push methods have emerged — notably IndexNow (used by Bing/Yandex and other engines) — which is an explicit notify‑API for faster discovery on participating engines. Use the appropriate mechanism for the engine you care about. (developer.wordpress.org)
Important policy/context: Google changed how it treats sitemap pings (announced a deprecation of the old sitemap ping endpoint) and recommends using accurate sitemap metadata (lastmod) and feed push (WebSub) as part of discovery. That reinforces the point: focus on making pages crawlable and discoverable (correct HTTP status, noindex/robots, canonical, internal links) rather than on firing pings to dozens of services. (developers.google.com)
Quick, actionable checklist readers can follow now — fast: (1) make sure the URL returns 200 and isn’t blocked by robots/noindex; (2) publish a valid XML sitemap and register it in Google Search Console; (3) for important pages use Search Console’s URL inspection / request indexing workflow or equivalent; (4) submit IndexNow notifications for Bing/Yandex where supported; (5) use feed push (WebSub) if you rely on feed consumers; (6) don’t spam ping services — they may drop or throttle you. For sitemaps and how to submit them, see Google’s guidance. (developers.google.com)

Pinging is just a process to inform the search engines that you have new content in your blog or site. I don't think it has any strong relation with serp positioning. If the search engine finds your blog more suitable for a particular keyword, then it will position it better.
Yes, I am absolutely agree with your answer. Through pinging we inform search engine robots that our website/blog has new content but according to me pinging also directs search engine robots to come and cache new content that have been online posted before time and also it also displayed in between search engine blog search section.
Okay, So we can say that by applying this strategy, One can increase their SERP position also as well! please correct me if I am wrong.
