There are numerous tools out there like Techgrigy and Radian 6 that helps companies monitor their brands and related conversations. But are there really any value to these conversations or is it just additional clutter? Most importantly, would you recommend a client to subscribe to such service, if so, why?

Conversations are happening with or without the organization's approval or awareness. People are having the conversations amongst themselves and not bringing this valuable data to the company. If you aren't listening to what is at least is being said about your organization, you are missing out on relationships with your community. It pays to listen.

Well thank you. I actually was in contact with Radian6 today in regards to monitoring real time data. I actually do recommend it but companies do need to understand it is an on-going process.
