I remember that the day the first iPhone launched, I waited in line at the Apple Store for hours and hours. The iPhone/Android really were revolutionary when they turned the cellphone PDA / palm pilot into a fully connected computer in your back pocket wherever you go.

While I generally oppose single function devices (especially in the kitchen), I find the flip phone was much easier to use and much less problematic than a smart phone. The only problem I ever had with the flip phone was when I forgot to charge it.
So I think that we will get a phase where they stop trying to cram everything into a phone and let it be just a phone. It should be relatively inexpensive and easy to manufacture.
So would that mean that people would no longer have an Internet (or future iteration of the Internet)-enabled device at the ready wherever they are? Or would that exist side by side with the phone but in a different form factor?
Sadly in the USA we're back to thinking about ditching the iPhone and Android as well.

Interesting thought! I think wearables and AI-integrated glasses could be the next big shift — blending digital interaction seamlessly into real life without needing a screen in our hands
But is it really practical for the entire world to be wearing these huge, heavy computers on our heads everywhere we go? I think they need to be as lightweight as regular glasses!

That’s a fair point — bulky headsets aren’t practical for everyday use. For them to really replace smartphones, they’ll need to be lightweight, stylish, and as comfortable as normal glasses while still offering full functionality

Yeah, that would be awesome! Smart contact lenses with a display could show info right in your eyes — no need for bulky glasses. It sounds futuristic, but it might take a while before it’s safe and comfortable for everyday use.
