I was given an old Proliant server which I have been using as a Linux testbed. I have successfully installed Red Hat on it but need to switch to UBUNTU.

When I tried using ISO CDs created on my new DELL notebook the old CD drive on the Proliant does not validate the installation files. From what I have read, older CD drives sometimes do not like CDs cut on newer drives.

Can I replace the Old CD drive in the Proliant with a newer drive or is this a waste of time? Any suggestions?
