I switched off my laptop from the power button (because it was hanging) and when next i put it on, it wont go beyond "checking...". Then i removed the battery and replaced it (since that was what the manual said), but since doing that it doesn't go beyond the screen that shows Microsoft corporation. Please what can i do?

Jump to PostWindows sounds broken to me. Try loading the Windows installation disk, then repair it that way.
