My CD R/W, working for 2 years, suddenly says all discs are blank
But the winbdows troubleshooter says "This device is working fine"
The disc goes round
The laser lights (for 6 secs while searching the disc)
And My Computer, drive E, says the disc is empty
Please suggest some ideas for me to try
I tried a new power supply 400 w instead of 200w. No change
Another cd R/w in the same slot works fine (but says "illegal op" if you insert a completely blank disk)
your drive could of died. did you try a new cable? I doubt it is that if you installed another cdrw and it worked. I think you have to uninstall your old cdrw and then shut down and install the new one and reboot, XP should find the new drive and reinstall the driver for it. try that and see if the error goes away.good luck
